This 20th anniversary update features high res graphics, an all new remastered soundtrack, behind-the-scenes goodies, and the great gameplay and story of the original. Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers, Jane Jensen’s classic adventure game, is back. And maybe I'm old skool, but I kind of prefer the cuter, more cartoony VGA graphics of the original to the. Which is a shame because Tim Curry voiced the main character in the original. I haven't played the remake, but I hear the voice actors are different. I'll go back to the original. The first game, Sins of the Fathers, should be your first and last Gabriel Knight game. The original holds a certain charm for me, so should I decide to play the first story again I don't think I'll replay the remake. Unless, you think it doesn't need improving, in which case why remake it at all? Just for the sake of better graphics? Or was the idea to open up GK to the new generation who never played the originals? If you're going to re-record the script you could at least make some improvements on the original. There were even some lines that didn't sound right to me without Tim Curry's take on the accent. Even to the point where Grace tells Gabriel to "get down" even though in this version he doesn't climb up the ladder in the shop! Ridiculous. Like they used new voice actors but as far as I could tell the script was word for word the same as the original.

Yes the updated textures and music were nice, but some things really baffled me. I didn't really get much out of the remake.

To be honest, the time and money spent on the GK1 remake would have been better spent on GK4 in my opinion. Baggins: One of the developer's notes in 20th Anniversary edition, she specifically states she won't make a remake of GK2 and 3, and plans to do GK4 next.
